I'm Finished!

After 2 whole days of doing laundry, I'm happy to report that I'm all caught up. But that won't last long, as there will be more laundry waiting for me tomorrow.  It's a never-ending-cycle around here.

More Of The Same

I've still been in the mood to make the "My Stocking Ornament(s)" so I've been whipping them right out. I made these on the 3rd, 4th, and 6th.

These 3 colors are samples for Small T.  The colors (from the left) are Buff, Paddy Green, and Cafe Latte. She thinks that I need to make a few stockings that can be used in a primitive decorating scheme, which is what she leaned toward when we decorated our house for Christmas this year.
I haven't made any stockings since I finished these though.  I think I need a break from them. They are getting boring and once I get bored, I'm done.

Here We Are Again

Thursday afternoon found us in the doctor's office for 2 hours and then in the Emergency Room for several more. There's so much sickness going around that most everyone is ill, and has been for months now. With Small T having an autoimmune disease, she catches everything, and is seldom healthy. She's only been back at school a week and is sick already.
After fluids and medication, she was feeling a lot better by Friday afternoon though. Hopefully she will stay well for a bit now. It's quite the worry though and it makes it that much harder to send her away to college this coming Fall, knowing that we won't be there when she's ill.

The "Jim"

So funny!  And in some manner, quite true...for me.
I've been a bit lax about going to the gym this week to workout.  This is just one more reminder that I need to get in gear and get myself down there to work out.

I'm Ready To Go

Today, Big C and I made the trip to the college bookstore and bought our textbooks for the next semester.  When we got back home, I cleaned out my book bag and got it packed. Check out the photo below.
It's a very deceptive looking bag, isn't it? You probably couldn't guess what all is in it, right? And you wouldn't imagine that it is HEAVY either. I almost have to bend over double to carry it.  It's that heavy. Now I know why my left arm, even after being broken, is much stronger than my right arm.  It's because I carry this bag on my left shoulder and am constantly picking it up with my left arm. It gets a major workout for 16 weeks straight. So...what makes this bag so heavy?
It's because I have all this stuff in it. There are:
6 textbooks
6 folders and 6 notebooks
and a bag of pens, pencils, highlighters, post-it notes, a calculator, ear buds, a flash drive, and then an emergency baggie (not shown) of tissues, Tums, cough drops, nail clippers, and $2 in quarters.
I would never have thought that all of these things together would weigh so much if I hadn't already carried this same bag for the past four months.  I swear that this semester's bag feels even heavier than it did last semester. My left arm is going to be quite muscular by May.

Knitting Makes Me Happy

I really enjoy knitting these days, and it makes me happy to sit and knit on one of these little Homespun Knitted Doll Blankets.
I gather up a bunch of small balls of yarn from my stash, regardless of yarn weight and color, as pair them up according to the way they look together. Then I grab one of my circular knitting needles and knit away. I really like the way the different textures work together, which makes it look homespun.
When I'm finished knitting the "body" of the blanket, I add a crochet border.
I really like the way this variegated baby yarn can look so different, depending on the angle and distance at which you see it.  This yarn is actually white with specks of blue and pink mixed in, but it really doesn't look like it.
Now that I have this little doll blanket finished, I can't wait to start on another.

Starting Early

Every time we put out the Christmas decorations, I always think, "What could I have done differently this year" and I always long for more decorations. When we took the decorations down this year, I made a list of items that I wanted to make for the next time we put them out. So, I'm being proactive and working on some of those things now. The only challenge will be NOT losing them before Christmas arrives again.  lol This past weekend, I made...
6 little pink stockings and 7 little red stockings,
and Tuesday I made 6 little green stockings.
Now I need to go get in my stash for some light blue yarn.  That color is next.
