Patchwork Dottie Angel Blanket

I finished the Patchwork Dottie Angel Blanket on Saturday.

Most of the yarn came out of my stash.  All of it is Red Heart WW.

I used the following colors:

Paddy Green, Light Blue, Pale Yellow, Cherry Red, Amethyst, Light Coral, Pretty 'n Pink, Pale Plum, Pumpkin, Shocking Pink, Turqua, Bright Yellow, Spring Green, Royal, Pale Pink, Aruba Sea, Warm Brown, and Soft White.  The border is done in Teal.

I ended up having to buy 2 skeins of yarn in order to complete this....another skein of Light Blue (because I ran out) and a skein of Warm Brown (since I thought the blanket needed this color).

I used an I crochet hook.

Current Projects

 I'm working on some knitted squares.  This is something I've not done before.  Knitting squares and then eventually, hooking them together into a blanket.  I have 3 done and a 4th one started.  Obviously, I have a long way to go.

 I'm also knooking some squares.  This is the first one.  I made several attempts at getting this knooked square to be the same size as my knitted squares.  After ripping it out several times, I decided that I needed a bigger knook hook.  I only have sizes G, H, and I and I needed a J.  So I made my own with one of my older J hooks.  So far, it's working out fine.  Big Daddy said he would try to put a whole through it for me, out in the garage, with some of his tools.  But, he needs an older hook, in case he messes up.

 As always, I have a lot of partial skeins of yarn, so I started a scrap afghan using the Dottie Angel blanket pattern (which is a favorite of mine).  The free pattern can be found here http://dottieangel.blogspot.com/2010/06/ordinarily-extraordinary-blanket-how-to.html .

I have also started working on a blanket for one of my sisters.  She wanted me to use the True Blood Water Lily Blanket pattern which can be found here http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/true-blood-water-lily-blanket .  However, she wanted a color scheme of white, black and red, with red being the main color.  So far, I have 5 of these squares completed.

So...these are my current works in progress.  I'm having some trouble settling down with working on anything right now, which has led me to have several things started.

Next Project - The Dub Blanket

I've started my next project. It's another Dottie Angel Blanket.

This time the blanket is for another boy...Dub. That's why it's called the Dub Blanket.

These are the colors I've chose....(from the bottom middle up)....Dark Sage, Carrot, Light Sage, and Soft White. The Dark Sage looks almost black, but it isn't. It's similar to an army green.

By the way, I'm using a size J hook.

Race Flag Afghan

Since I have a lot of black and white yarn, and also that I live in a huge Nascar household, I have decided to do a race flag afghan. I don't know if it will look like a checkerboard flag when I'm done, but that's the intention.

I'm using one of my favorite patterns for the afghan. It's the dottie angel ordinarily extraordinary blanket pattern. The pattern is super easy to follow and I love the fact that the blanket is joined as you go. I've made this type of blanket several times before and I always love how it turns out.

As for the particulars, I am using Red Heart yarn and a J hook.

I whipped out my measuring tape a bit ago and the afghan is a few inches over 60 inches in length. That should be adequate for a throw. I hope. My family is constantly reminding me that 3 of the 5 members are much taller than Small T and I. I apparently have a history of making things for short people. LOL

Trying Out A New Pattern

I decided to try out a new crochet pattern. Well, it's new to me, at least. It can be found here http://dottieangel.blogspot.com/2010/06/ordinarily-extraordinary-blanket-how-to.html . I have never crocheted an afghan in vertical rows, so it was time I tried it. I was hoping that the "joining as you worked" would be easy, and it is. The finished product is fabulous! I am making my blanket/afghan using yarn from my stash. It's all Red Heart yarn in the colors Pumpkin, Cherry Red, Blue, Bright Yellow and Black with multi-colored flecks. I am using a J hook. The photo shows my progress so far. I started this yesterday in between all the activities and errands. When I picked it up this afternoon, I hadn't even finished the first black square. Now I'm on the second row. Woo Hoo!
