Simply Beautiful!

Fall is my favorite season of the year and I'm thoroughly enjoying the view from my front porch every day.  These two trees are beautiful!

Fall

Saturday, I couldn't believe my eyes!  Fall is arriving.  Where have I been?

 This tree with the yellow leaves is in my own front yard!  In fact, I have most of the trees (other than the evergreens) turning yellow.  Geez.

And look at the beautiful burgundy leaves on this one.  Wow!

I need to drive around town and see what other colors I can find.

Weekend Misc.

Last weekend, we were fairly busy.  This is how we spent our Saturday morning and afternoon.

 We volunteered our help in building the FCCLA Recycling Barn at school.

Big Daddy is sharing his knowledge with one of the kids in regards to the building trades.

 Then, Small T made a stop at the school greenhouse to check on her poinsetta's.

She is growing them for her FFA SAE.

They are fairly tricky plants to grow.  She has 100 of them.  They should be fully grown by Thanksgiving, which is when she will have them up for sale.

 I spent some time marveling at the changing colors.  We are finally getting some Fall colors on the trees that didn't lose all their leaves in the drought this summer.  I love the burgundy color on this tree.

 Then there are the bright yellow leaves of this smaller tree.  It looks like the top ones have already blown away.  It's been very windy the past week or so.

 And I love the rustic look of the woods across from the school with all the shades of brown, yellow and green.  There might even be a bit of red in there somewhere.

 Then there's this.  I was bored.  I started taking photos of everyone's shadow while waiting to help on the recycling barn at school.  This is me and my rendition of The Statue of Liberty.  LOL

And finally, we have Small T.  She's helping Bobby put together some of the inside supports for the recycling barn. It was a bit out of her element but she was game to try.

Autumn

The trees across from my mom's apartment have some beautiful color, don't they? I couldn't resist taking a photo of them.

Fall Colors

Do you see the lovely fall colored leaves on my trees? No? Me neither. I don't know what happened. Instead of changing colors....the leaves just FELL OFF!!!! How frustrating! I've waited a whole year to see this and what do I get??? Nothing! *sigh* I guess I'll have to wait another whole year and see what happens. :)

Touches of Color in Mo

A little bit of color to make you smile. Or at least, it makes me smile. I love this time of the year, when all the colors are changing and becoming so vibrant and lush!

Road Trip Sunday - Part 3

I couldn't believe my eyes...the leaves on the trees are already changing colors! Can you see the lovely reddish colored tree in this photo?

Harvest time is here. Farmers are cutting corn.

I noticed that a new farm had been planted with pecan trees. In about 9 years, they will have their first harvest of nuts.

One of the last few old time gas stations still operating in our area. Sorry about the horrid photo! It's the best I could get while the truck was moving.

Finally Found...

a tree with yellow leaves. Everything around here has reddish colored leaves this year.

Winter is Coming...

I know this because my bushes/shrubs are getting their berries. See...

Signs of the Season

I wanted to show some of the beautiful Fall colors around my area. During my drive, I noticed that there are very few of the leaves changing over to yellow. Most are going to red or a deep orange/brown color with reddish tinge to it. I wonder if this has any significance for the upcoming season? Anyone know?

Signs of the Holiday Season

We were on the road yesterday and I just happened to bring my camera with me. I took a couple of photos of my favorite sights along the way home. The first is of a roadside farm stand featuring lots of pumpkins and gourds and other fall items for sale. The second photo is of a farm that decorates for the season. In this case, a hay bale featured as a big jack-o-lantern. Cute, huh?

Fall Is Here

I saw this tree while we were out running around the country side today. You can't tell from the photo, but the leaves are actually turning gold, yellow and reddish orange. I will try to find a better photo of this phenomenon as I drove past a tree here in town that's a beautiful yellow green color.

Harvest Time Is Upon Us

Harvest Time is upon us. Most farmers are already bringing in their corn and beans, but there are a few late planters. The harvest that pertains to me each year is the pecan harvest (first photo). I work at a farm in the Fall where I am one of three women that crack and bag the pecans for sale (both local and internet). The pecans won't be ready for harvest until we have a few hard frosts and the pecans fall off the trees. As seen in the photo shown, the pecan hulls are already drying out and starting to crack open. That's a good sign. The other crops featured in the photos are corn and soybeans
