Bucksaw Resort and Marina - Fishing Trip

This past weekend (Labor Day Weekend), Big Daddy, Big C and I went on a fishing holiday. Big Daddy said it was for his upcoming birthday. (sigh...this is his normal excuse...and it's a couple of weeks until his birthday...so...we bucked up and went...those of us that could.) We went to Bucksaw Resort and Marina on Truman Lake. This is a favorite place of ours, so it was a good trip to go on. We try to make it there at least once a year. And we were needing to go soon anyway so we could look up some info on possibly having our family reunion there in 2012.

This is one of the coves we stopped in for some fishing.

This is a photo of the main building ... the Marina and Restaurant. The water is exceptionally low this year, so ...that makes the building sit lower in the water.

Big C fishing out of the driver's seat on the boat.

Big Daddy fishing off the front of the boat.

"Me"...sitting back enjoying the ride on the boat. Yes, it was very cool that day and I do indeed have a sweatshirt on. Big C wanted my sweatshirt incredibly bad as he was freezing. But he wouldn't wear something that I had on anyway. It has booby marks in it. (imagine....)
Here are the fishing totals for the weekend:
Big C - 10 fish
Big Daddy - 7 fish
Me - 0...yep...zero.
Biggest Fish caught - Big Daddy
Smallest Fish caught - Big C
First fish caught - Big C
We always make bets before we starting the fishing trip and assign rewards. Needless to say...I got nothing. *sigh* Not even a bit of beginner's luck. And no...I'm not a beginner, but I was hoping anyway.
Noteworthy Event for the weekend- We ate all of our meals in the marina's floating restaurant. They have HUGE pancakes. The pancakes are bigger than the dinner plate and about half an inch thick each. Wow! Yep! Wow! So imagine...they have the Hungry Man challenge which is 3 pancakes for $5.99. If you can eat the entire plate of pancakes you get them free. They had almost talked Big C into it and then he chickened out. I knew he couldn't do it, but I would have let him try if he wanted. So...for our family, at the upcoming reunion in 2012, this challenge will provide immense comic relief. Look out Bucksaw!

See You Next Week!

Well girls, we are off on a three day mini-vacation. We're heading down to go on a float trip with a bunch of our family and friends. It should be a great time!
I've been really busy this week with work and such, so...my crafting has taken a backward slide. Hopefully, I will have some time to spare next week and I can get back on track.
Have a good weekend everyone! See you soon!

Campfire Collage

Here's a little Campfire Collage from Saturday night's S'More Feast while we were trying to keep warm. It was actually quite cool at night and all the kids were searching out blankets to wrap up in. We had our usual S'Mores using Hershey's Chocolate Bars, but also tried out a new version using Hershey's Cookies and Cream Chocolate Bars. I must say that I prefer the original ones, but some of the kids liked both of them. I must say that Small T had a great time around the campfire. She posed with Grandma and with Z, one of her cousins of the same age. Once again, I think she's the one that took a photo of me. Ugh! I look horrid! I'm sure getting older and can see my wrinkles in this one. Oh well!

Favorite Photo

This is my favorite photo of the entire weekend! (Big C is in the back of the boat.)

Fishing

Here we are at the Family Reunion this past weekend. On Saturday morning, everyone spent some time and went fishing. It's one of our favorite past-times.

Oh....My....Gosh....Becky!

..........sigh.........do you ever feel like you just can't get caught up? like you're beating your head against the wall.........that sort of thing? i feel that way today. ........sigh......i have so much that needs to be done and yet, i think i'm going to take a nap. i'm worn out. but all the driving this weekend was worth it. nothing like a good old family reunion to make your heart sing! i have lots and lots of photos that i took this weekend and i will share a few when i get them put on the computer.
alas, i have no news to share in regards to my crafting because.....i haven't done any this past week. it's horrible!!! i know!!! but i think i'm starting to feel inspired again. one source of inspiration is my nephew DK and his girlfriend Rosie. they are expecting a baby in august and this past saturday i put my hands on her tummy and talked to baby E and she kicked me. so....baby E needs some things made for her and that's right up my alley.
i also received a phone call last week from a nice lady asking me to put some of my handmade items back up at the dimestore. so....i need to find the time and do it.
well....my beloved doggies are finally back home after four days of being at the kennel, so i think i'm going to take Pepper and go have a nap! catch you all later!

Campfire Photos

Here's a little photo editorial of our great time camping. These are the ones that actually sat around the campfire at night. By the way, these photos are "pre-shower" photos. We had bigger smiles after the showers. LOL Missing from this photo editorial are my youngest son and my oldest son's girlfriend. They are not "outdoor" people and spent most of the time camping inside of the camper in the A/C where there weren't any bugs. LOL

Skipping Stones

Skipping Stones is something that all kids should learn, right? Well, Chance can skip stones just fine, but Tianna can't. He spent some time at the lake trying to teach her the "fine art of skipping stones". She never did pick up the right technique, but at least they had fun doing it. It seems like there are so few things anymore that they will do together or do without bickering. Therefore, I had to capture the moment on film. I might need it for bribery sometime in the future. LOL

Tubing

Saturday, we spent the day "tubing" on the lake. I took this photo with my zoom lens and still couldn't get a good shot. They were just too far away.

Relaxing in the water...

This is my son, Chance, relaxing at the lake on Saturday. In the first photo, he's playing "turtle" and the second photo shows him floating on his back. Chance didn't go camping with us last summer, so this was his first time going to Pomme de Terre State Park. We went for 3 days this past weekend since it was my husband's 50th birthday. Luckily, the kids didn't have school on Friday.

Metropolis, IL

On the way to Florida, I saw this town called Metropolis in Illinois. It was dark and I couldn't get a good photo of the water tower. In fact, i still don't have a really good photo of it, but we snapped this one on the way home. See Superman on the water tower???

Boa Constrictor

These are photos of Costa Maya, Mexico as we were coming into port.

Mayan Cove - Animal Sanctuary

These photos are of some of the animals at the Animal Sanctuary on Maya Cove. To name a few of them, they are sting rays, sea lions, tropical birds, and howler monkeys.

Maya Cove - Mural

Photos of my daughter posing with the mural on Maya Cove. She's silly, isn't she???

Maya Cove - Mayan Museum - Part 1

We visited the Mayan Museum on Maya Cove at Isla Roatan. These are a few of the original artifacts retrieved from the original site of the ruins and are kept here at the museum.

Maya Cove - Mayan Museum - Part 2

We visited the Mayan Museum on Maya Cove and these are photos of some of the original artifacts found at the Mayan Ruins. They have been relocated to the museum for safe-keeping.
