On Monday, May 5th, Big Daddy and I went fishing together for the first time this Summer.
First, we went to Palmer's Creek.  Didn't catch a thing.  But saw a lot of birds.  A LOT of birds.
Then we went to the River (Grand River).  We tried a new spot there.  (new to us).  The only thing we caught was Gar.  We don't eat those, so they went back in the water.
It was fun, but I wish we'd caught some keeper fish.

Wednesday...

Wednesday, Big Daddy got to have a day of fishing all by himself.
He came by the pool to show me his "catch".
Not bad.  Some bass and some catfish.
Then, Little Ty's mom (my youngest sister) came for a surprise visit.
They celebrated with a wrestling match.
They are equal at this point.  Scrambling to see who will come out the victor.
She briefly had the upper hand.
Then Little Ty had her pinned.  (again)

Fishing...

We went fishing today.  Big Daddy, Little T and I.
Guess who got the first fish?  Guess who caught the most fish?  Guess who caught the biggest fish?
ME, ME, ME, ME!!!!!!!!!  :)
This almost never happens and I'm loving it!

Fishing...

Yesterday evening, Big Daddy and I decided to spend some quality time together....fishing.  It's something we used to do all the time but with the kids all growing up and everything that it constantly going on, we seldom have any time together and Big Daddy is always running around after us.  So...I decided that I should try and get him out of the house to do something that he enjoys and hasn't been getting to do much.
Here he is getting the poles ready to go into the water.  Right after I snapped this photo, this little tiny fish jumped up out of the water and grabbed onto his hook.  It didn't even have any bait on it.  And would you believe, it was the ONLY fish that was caught.  We didn't get a single nibble after that.
However, it was a beautiful evening to be fishing and that made up for not catching anything.  :)

Fishing...

So...what do you do when the flood waters are high????  You go fishing!!!
Big Daddy went three days in a row.
This is how high the water was yesterday.  It was up and over the shelter house and way up into the parking lot.  It made fishing a lot easier though.
This is my pole and my little fishing spot from yesterday.
I got to see them put the duck boat into the water.
The current was so fast it was scary watching the boat being turned around even with the powerful engines it has.  It just flipped the boat right around and they ended up going down the river backwards.
This is me....freezing my rear off...but having fun with the guys.
And who ends up catching the biggest fish out of the three of us????  Medium J!!!!  With a Catfish.  Although, there were 3 other huge (and much bigger fish) caught yesterday as well.

1st Fishing Trip of the Summer

We get so busy in the summer months that we have to consciously stop and think about Dad.  And his desire to be outdoors.  I made a plan that we would all spend the day with him on Sunday, June 10th, at the lake.  We got the boat ready, packed up a couple of coolers with drinks and food, grabbed the nieces and nephews (since we're babysitting for them this summer), and headed out.
A current photo of me.  First one I've had taken since the weight loss journey began.
Small T.  She caught a fish.  But not the first one though.  Pattycake caught that one.
Big Daddy.  Getting a pole ready for one of the younger kids.
Pattycake, Sassy and G.  Having a quick breakfast and listening to my MP3 players while getting ready to get the fishing started.
Big C.  With one of the several fish that he caught.  And no, he isn't smoking.  It's something on the fishing pole.  I thought I should clarify.  Just in case.

Fishing In January!

Here in my neck of the woods, it was 73 degrees yesterday!
That's unheard of in January!
It's sure been a weird winter!

Anyway, Big C came home from basketball practice yesterday afternoon and said "I'm going fishing".
I was thinking "yeah, right". "Nothing is going to be biting".
Well, I was wrong.
He came home with some crappie.
Some nice sized crappie.
That Big Daddy had to clean. :) (so glad it wasn't me)
I swear, I will try NOT to doubt my child again.
At least, not anytime soon. LOL
Way to go Big C!!!!!!

Bucksaw Resort and Marina - Fishing Trip

This past weekend (Labor Day Weekend), Big Daddy, Big C and I went on a fishing holiday. Big Daddy said it was for his upcoming birthday. (sigh...this is his normal excuse...and it's a couple of weeks until his birthday...so...we bucked up and went...those of us that could.) We went to Bucksaw Resort and Marina on Truman Lake. This is a favorite place of ours, so it was a good trip to go on. We try to make it there at least once a year. And we were needing to go soon anyway so we could look up some info on possibly having our family reunion there in 2012.

This is one of the coves we stopped in for some fishing.

This is a photo of the main building ... the Marina and Restaurant. The water is exceptionally low this year, so ...that makes the building sit lower in the water.

Big C fishing out of the driver's seat on the boat.

Big Daddy fishing off the front of the boat.

"Me"...sitting back enjoying the ride on the boat. Yes, it was very cool that day and I do indeed have a sweatshirt on. Big C wanted my sweatshirt incredibly bad as he was freezing. But he wouldn't wear something that I had on anyway. It has booby marks in it. (imagine....)
Here are the fishing totals for the weekend:
Big C - 10 fish
Big Daddy - 7 fish
Me - 0...yep...zero.
Biggest Fish caught - Big Daddy
Smallest Fish caught - Big C
First fish caught - Big C
We always make bets before we starting the fishing trip and assign rewards. Needless to say...I got nothing. *sigh* Not even a bit of beginner's luck. And no...I'm not a beginner, but I was hoping anyway.
Noteworthy Event for the weekend- We ate all of our meals in the marina's floating restaurant. They have HUGE pancakes. The pancakes are bigger than the dinner plate and about half an inch thick each. Wow! Yep! Wow! So imagine...they have the Hungry Man challenge which is 3 pancakes for $5.99. If you can eat the entire plate of pancakes you get them free. They had almost talked Big C into it and then he chickened out. I knew he couldn't do it, but I would have let him try if he wanted. So...for our family, at the upcoming reunion in 2012, this challenge will provide immense comic relief. Look out Bucksaw!

Fishing

The guys went fishing last night. They came home with a good catch of catfish and bass. I'm sure glad I didn't have to clean any of them. It took them quite a while to get them all done.

Here we are at the Family Reunion this past weekend. On Saturday morning, everyone spent some time and went fishing. It's one of our favorite past-times.

Another Fishing Trip

My guys went fishing again today. Big C caught the biggest fish....a bass. Dad caught a nice sized catfish plus a few smaller ones. That makes a few more filets for the future fish fry!

1st Time Fishing This Year

Big C and his dad went fishing this afternoon. Look what they brought home! 18 Crappie! Thank God I don't have to clean them!

Big C is always the jokester! Here he is....having the "big fish" greet me! LOL

And...Big C caught two of the three biggest fish. He's showing them off for me!

Fishing in the rain...

While we were camping in the rain, we decided to go ahead and fish in the rain after going to all that trouble to haul the boat to the campground as well as the camper. Guess what? We didn't catch anything. Didn't get any bites either. But we still had fun! See my son in my daughter's pink raincoat? He has a blue one but didn't feel like wearing it. He's a real comic! I have even better photos of him but he won't let me post them on here. LOL He doesn't want any of his friends to see him! Imagine that! The "guys" have had the boat out several times already this year but this is the first time that the "girls" went with them. So it deserved a spot on my blog.

1st Fishing Trip of the Year - Together

Here we are....our 1st fishing trip of the year taken as a couple (minus all the kids). We tried out a new place we found. It was the Sterling Price Community Lake. It's a really nice area but my only photo of it doesn't do it justice.
You'll notice that my husband is the one catching the fish! I didn't catch anything and only got one bite the whole time. I did see a snake in the water though. So I spent my time enjoying being outside and taking the occasional photo. I also made use of my MP3 player when I felt myself getting bored.
