Small T and FFA

Currently, Small T is away at the State FFA Convention.  Since she's away, and I miss her, I thought I would share a photo of her and the Parliamentary Procedure Team that she has competed on this year.  Small T is in the front row in the middle.  They were all cracking up in this photo after a successful season of competition.  :)

Weekend Misc.

Last weekend, we were fairly busy.  This is how we spent our Saturday morning and afternoon.
We volunteered our help in building the FCCLA Recycling Barn at school.
Big Daddy is sharing his knowledge with one of the kids in regards to the building trades.
Then, Small T made a stop at the school greenhouse to check on her poinsetta's.
She is growing them for her FFA SAE.
They are fairly tricky plants to grow.  She has 100 of them.  They should be fully grown by Thanksgiving, which is when she will have them up for sale.
I spent some time marveling at the changing colors.  We are finally getting some Fall colors on the trees that didn't lose all their leaves in the drought this summer.  I love the burgundy color on this tree.
Then there are the bright yellow leaves of this smaller tree.  It looks like the top ones have already blown away.  It's been very windy the past week or so.
And I love the rustic look of the woods across from the school with all the shades of brown, yellow and green.  There might even be a bit of red in there somewhere.
Then there's this.  I was bored.  I started taking photos of everyone's shadow while waiting to help on the recycling barn at school.  This is me and my rendition of The Statue of Liberty.  LOL
And finally, we have Small T.  She's helping Bobby put together some of the inside supports for the recycling barn. It was a bit out of her element but she was game to try.
So, that's a bit of what a typical weekend is like for us.  Hope you enjoyed it!

FFA Banquet 2012

Both Big C and Small T are in FFA.
The yearly banquet was held this week.
That's when awards and honors are also given out.
This year, Small T was a "greenhand" or 1st year member.
Here is a photo of all the greenhands from this year.
Small T is 2nd from the right.
Yep, she's the "small" one.
And here she is with her award, placque and pin.

Off To School...

This week is "FFA Week" at school.
Today is "Truck and Tractor Day".
Or "drive your truck and/or tractor to school day".

This morning, Small T was picked up by one of her friends in his big tractor, for the trip to school. I followed them outside to take a photo (which she didn't appreciate).
You see, I was wondering how she was going to climb up in there in her little black skirt. :)

Anyway, she made it up inside the tractor and here they are getting ready to pull out onto the road.

And they are "off to school".
FYI...we live in a rural farming community and it's common to tractors on the road just about every day.
It's not common to see the kids driving them to school in the morning, so this is a real treat for them.

FFA Banquet & Awards

I'm a proud parent! My youngest son received a proficiency award and the greenhand award during the FFA Banquet this year. Now if I can only teach him how to keep his shirt tail tucked in his pants, things will be good. LOL
