Today is "Homework Saturday" for me. I have to get in and get it done, as I hate trying to finish it all on Sunday. If I'm lucky enough to finish it up early, then I have some plans to crochet. I have a design floating around in my head and I'd like to get it down on paper and work some of it up. Plus, Small T is having overnight company from out of town, so I'd like to be able to visit for a bit. I hope everyone has a fabulous day, and weekend, if you don't see me again in the next couple of days!

Homecoming 2014-2015
Last night was Homecoming at our school. They played Madison. I only went to watch the cheerleaders though. Basketball is not my favorite sport. Even when my kids were playing. With Small T being the Cheer Captain, she insists that I make an appearance whenever there's a home ball game though. So Big Daddy and I went. Here are a few Cheer Highlights:
The Cheer Squad during the Girls game. Small T is on the right. The mascot does a great job helping the girls out!
Small T...while they were announcing the other team. She's actually clapping, you just can't tell.
At half-time of the boys game, our Cheer girls performed a dance. They did a great job too! Here's a photo of the squad in their dance outfits. Small T is 2nd from the left.
One final photo...Small T and Carissa. Carissa is Small T's asst. captain.
Final Four?
I finished the last 4 squares yesterday. These are the color Buff. Then I laid them all out on the floor to see how big the throw will be, and that's not very big. But...it will still work. Now I have to do some thinking on how I want to join them. There are so many different methods out there that it's going to be hard to choose. I'm trying to use a different method than I normally do though. So it should be interesting, figuring it out.

The Squares Are Adding Up
I'm still making squares. Right now, I like making them. Eventually, I'll get tired of them and have to take a break, so for now, I'm sticking with it.
Last night, I made 5 more Cornmeal squares.
This morning, in between housework and laundry, I whipped out 6 more of the Cornmeal squares.
I tried to get a 7th square, but there wasn't enough yarn.
My totals at this point are:
Aran - 14 squares
Buff - 16 squares
Cornmeal - 14 squares
So...I need 4 more in order to have 48 squares, but I used all of the yarn I had in these 3 colors. I headed downstairs to my yarn stash and started digging around, seeing what I could find. And the yarn fairy was smiling upon me!!!
I found a ball of Buff yarn. Yay! That's hopefully enough for 4 more squares! I'll be working on them shortly. Don't you just love it when you find something you were sure you didn't have??? I do!
A Sweet Gesture
Absent from my household this school year is Ty, my nephew.
Do you remember him?
He stopped by last night to visit and he also brought me something of his to use. My school bag is so heavy that he is loaning me his rolling backpack.
We emptied my bag and filled the rolling backpack up. It's completely full. If I had any more textbooks, they wouldn't fit. I tried it out, and it's much better than my tote bag was. Thanks for the loaner, Ty!!! I really appreciate it!

Back To School
Yesterday morning, bright and early, at 7:30 a.m., Big C and I were headed down the highway, back to school.
We both had classes all day long, from 9:00 to 5:00. It was a very long day, let me tell you. Big C went straight to bed at 6:30 last night. I wanted to, but I needed to start on my mountain of assigned homework.
And here I am, at midnight last night, still working on my math. I managed to get one chapter done, and I still have one more to go. It only took me 5 hours to get all those problems done for chapter 1! Geez! I feel like it's just busy work, but I still have to do it.
So, I still have chapter 2 for math and 1 or 2 chapters to read in all the other classes along with some small (hopefully) assignments to finish up today before my classes again tomorrow. Can you guess what I'll be doing all day today?

Valentine Inspiration
Valentine's Day is just over a month away. Can you believe it? It seems like Christmas was just last week. Here are a few Valentine's Day ideas that I found on Pinterest:
These jars are really cute!
I absolutely LOVE this idea. I'm seriously considering making it for Big Daddy.
He would love this too. I would need to find someone to make it for me though.
I wish the boys were younger. These would be great for school. Maybe Muffin Man needs these? I'll have to call his mom.
This is cute! I could see this in my house. Somewhere.
I might just make these to give to my classmates at college. They loved the little gift I gave them at Christmas.
I'm definitely making this for Big Daddy!
This too! He'll love it.
If I had enough time, I'd make a few strands of these and hang them in Small T's doorway after she went to bed for a cute Valentine morning surprise.
IF I were to decorate the house for Valentine's Day, this would definitely be a way to switch from Christmas to Valentine's without breaking the bank since we used a clear vase to house some extra ornaments this year. I'll have to keep this in mind as it's also tasteful, in my opinion.
I Can Smell It Now
This is a strange photo, right? Do you know what it is? I'll save you the guessing and tell you that it's the bottom of my coffee canister. I think I have enough to make 1 or 2 more pots and then "I GET TO OPEN A NEW CANISTER!". Yay! Can't you just smell it now? The aroma from a new canister of coffee is just divine! And...we are switching to a another brand that we like for this next one, so it's double the enjoyment. Is it strange to be so happy that we're at the end of the coffee grounds???
Inspiration
I seem to be stuck in "Christmas" mode. I wonder if it's because it's so cold outside? Anyway, the Christmas mode is quite prevalent in my inspiration photos today.
I love this look for my tree one year. I think it's gorgeous!
This is absolutely beautiful!
I wonder if I could do something similar in crochet? I think this is a fabulous design!
This is interesting. Small T believes in the power of dream catchers, so I wonder if she would like something in another shape?
So pretty, yet so simple in design.
This is a genius idea!
I have 2 small bathrooms that will need a re-do eventually and I like finding ideas for them.
I remember my 80's rebellion with all the ear piercings. This photo brings it all back.
Nice! Another project that would look fab in my living room!
Another good idea for a needlepoint craft.
I wonder how I could incorporate this into a smaller project for my husband? Any ideas? I'm not great at painting, but maybe a canvas? Or a needlepoint project?
Seeing Squares
I took a little homework break last night to watch "The Librarians" and crochet a few more squares.
I made 5 more Aran squares.
And this morning I made 4 more of them (while waiting on Small T to get ready for school), using the last of the Aran yarn.
Here are the Aran and Buff squares all stacked up together.
Then I started on the Cornmeal squares. I have 3 of them made.
I'm getting a bit tired of working on them today, so I'm putting them aside for a bit. I may or may not come back to them later on this afternoon/evening, depending on how much I get accomplished on the homework front and on the housework.

And So It Begins
Yesterday, I figured I should check my college email and online class website. I should clarify that my classes are not online, but I do have an online class area for each of my classes. It's hard to explain but we use it for grades, assignments, tests, and several other things. Anyway, I had an email from one of my instructor's and my first 2 Monday classes have been cancelled but there is plenty of reading and homework to complete before the first actual class time. Since I had an email, I went and checked out my classes and I have homework in 2 of them before the first class on Tuesday. So...today it's back to the grindstone. I have homework to do. I'm glad I checked these things out as I do not like being unprepared because being unprepared puts me behind. With 6 classes I can't afford to get behind. So, I'll catch you all later! Have a great Sunday everyone!
Granny Squares
Back in November, when I cleaned out my yarn stash, I chose a few skeins of yarn and started making Granny Squares for a throw or small afghan. Since that time, they have been sitting in a bag waiting for me to work on them again. I got them out yesterday and made some more squares.
I made 6 more of the Buff squares. I have a total of 16 of them now. And then I ran out of the Buff yarn. Hopefully these will be enough for the throw as I'm NOT wanting buy any more yarn for this project.
Then I started on the Aran squares. I made 5 of those.
I have 21 squares completed and I'm aiming for 48 squares out of the 3 skeins of yarn I chose to use (Buff, Aran, and Cornmeal). Once I get these squares finished, I'll lay them all out and see if I have enough for a throw or small afghan. If not, I'll have to re-evaluate my plan. These squares are one of the quick and easy projects I have lined up that I can work on in small increments of time during this next semester at college.
Inspiration
I love Pinterest! I really do! It's a great place to find some inspiration when you are stuck creatively.
Here are a few things that inspired me Friday:
I could see myself wearing something like this. It's lovely.
Isn't this a cute brooch for Valentine's Day?
I like this quote. I am considering using it for a needlepoint project.
I think this is cute and it would look great in my living/family room, which is quite masculine.
I love this black frame. I would use something different inside it though.
This is totally Small T. It's another possible needlepoint project.
