I'm tired of making baby items. Imagine that! I wanted to make something different for a change, so I settled on this Potato Chip Scarf http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90560AD.html . I used Simply Soft yarn in Persimmon and a J hook. I started and completed this little project in a couple of hours while sitting on the couch watching TV tonight.

More Embroidery Projects
I've drawn up a couple of ideas for my sister Marie's two girls. They wrote their names on cloth for me so I could embroider them. Then, I think I'm going to create something that they can hang on their bedroom door. It will involve some sewing, some embroidery and some crochet. I will post progress photos once I get started on them.

Crochet Project - Afghan (Update)
This is the current photo of my afghan. It's slowly getting bigger. I wish I'd had more time this month to work on it. But I'll get there. It's just taking me longer than normal to complete it. I think I'll add two more strips on the edge and on the top of it, then do the border. We'll see if that's what I end up doing since I'm just "playing it by ear". :)
Grandma
We've had a visitor this week......GRANDMA!!! Otherwise known as my mother. She caught a ride to the hospital when Small T was sick. She went with us to the second hospital as well, and then when Small T finally got to come home, she came back to our house to stay until Small T was out of the woods. My kids have LOVED having Grandma here for the week. Plus, all of the other grandkids in town as well. Our front door has been opening and closing all week long with mom's friends and family coming over for a visit. I'm sad to say though....that Grandma will be going home today. She's catching a ride with Aunt Lea.
Rockin' The Biker Boots!!!
Aunt Lea (one of my lovely sisters) came up for a quick visit yesterday. She's the owner of a lovely pair of biker boots. She's a shorty like my daughter Tianna and she loves those boots because they make her feel taller. (It's hard being 4 foot 10) So, my daughter, Small T, decided to try the beloved biker boots on. Then exclaimed! OMG! Look how much taller I am! LOL Then posed with Aunt Lea, gloating at the height she was attaining. During normal circumstances, she's about a half inch taller than Aunt Lea, but with the boots, she's more than that. What joy a pair of biker boots can lend to a couple of females! LOL
Snow
Yep! Friday morning, we woke up to snow! (sigh) I couldn't believe it!!! We had about two inches of the white stuff! It was still hanging around at noon when I took this photo of my car. Last weekend, it was in the 80's and then a few days later, it hit the 30's and has stayed there. Yesterday, Saturday, it snowed all day long here in town. It didn't stick to the ground, thankfully, but it sure had a great time snowing! When is it ever going to warm up and stay that way???
Big C and Baseball Practice
Guess who made the newspapaer this week? Yep! You guessed it! Big C. (My youngest son, and my middle child) I thought it was a really good photo....can you see the baseball off to the left of the photo? It's coming right at him. Plus, it's a really good sized photo on the page. He was soooooo proud when I showed it to him! Big C is a first baseman.

Pink Camo Sweater Coat
This technically isn't finished since I need to weave in the three ends and add the buttons, but the actual crochet part is done, so I'm going to call it "finished". :) That was a pretty long explanation, wasn't it? Anyway, I used "I Love This Yarn" and an I hook. I think the color is called Pink Camo or something similiar. I can't verify it as I threw the yarn wrapper away at one of the hospitals.
Lonely
The dogs had to do without my husband and I for 6 whole days due to a couple of illnesses in the family (and unplanned hospital stays). During that time, Cocoa missed my husband so much that he drug out his tennis shoes and laid with them. Isn't that sweet? Probably smelly too, but still very sweet.
My Daughter
This past week has been very, very hectic. First my husband had an unplanned surgery and then our daughter became very ill. She's shown here in the first photo and I call it "after the illness". LOL The second photo shows a moment in the first hospital she was at. She was actually feeling well enough to speak to a caller on my cell phone. That didn't last long though. She became much more ill as the days progressed. Happily, she is feeling better now but still not totally up to par. She went back to school today and then napped for about 4 hours once she got home.

New Cell Phone
Today has been a day for "new" things. I stopped at our cell phone service provider to see if they could figure out why my cell phone battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore, and they said I would need a new phone since mine was "obsolete". How can a phone that's only 9 months old be obsolete??? Beats me! So, I now have this little jobbie. It's square and it's pink. My old phone was square and white. Of course, nothing works like my old phone did and I can't hear this one when it rings, but I'm determined to get it figured out soon. Maybe by the time this one is obsolete! LOL
New Digital Camera
Baseball season starts back up again this next week, so I HAD to get a digital camera that was in good working order. So I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and bought a Sanyo that was on clearance. So far, it's taking good photos! Thank goodness! The two that I have had to use in the past week or so have been giving me fits, as you all know.
Book Therapy
Kenny wanted to eat lunch at Subway today and guess what's next door? Barnes and Noble!!! Woo Hoo! I used some of my earning these past weeks and did a bit of book shopping. In the process, I added to four of the series' that we read. I bought book 6 of The Last Apprentice, Book 6 of Ranger's Apprentice, Book 5 of the Fablehaven series, and books 7, 8 and 9 of The Otherworld Series. If you remember correctly, I had posted that I was re-reading The Otherworld Series just this past week. Woo Hoo! Lots of good reading in my future!!!
Crochet Project - Afghan
Here's a current photo of my "first" work in progress that I have on the agenda for right now. My afghan is coming along nicely. I'm getting ready to add a gray strip on top of the burgundy strip at the top. I think I'm going to make this a "throw" size instead of a regular "afghan" size. We'll see what I decide as it gets bigger.
Current Read
My husband bought me this series of books a couple of weeks ago and I've been saving it for an "emergency". Yesterday, sitting at the hospital in the emergency room, was that "emergency". I don't deal well with waiting or being worried. So, I started the first book (shown here) and let me tell you....it's really, really good so far. I got through the first four chapters with the snap of my fingers. So, if you like fantasy and vampires, give this series a try!
Camo Cardigan for Babies (work in progress)
I now have my second work in progress. (The first one is my afghan that I'm working on.)Yesterday, while sitting in the waiting room at the hospital, I dispelled some of my nervousness by starting this little cardigan for babies. I still have to put the sleeves and buttons on, but it's turning out good so far. I used Red Heart yarn in Camo and an I hook. I will probaby finish this up tomorrow or the next day at work, depending on how busy I am. By the way, the free pattern link can be found in a previous post from last week.

Crochet Project - Afghan
This is what the afghan looks like tonight....after spending this evening plus a bit of time at work today crocheting on it. It's coming along nicely, I think. My model, holding the afghan up, was only mildly reluctant to accept the job. Thus, her half-hearted pose with it. LOL I'm using Red Heart yarn in burgundy, navy, heather gray and white. And my "2nd new" J hook that's so pretty.
Crochet Project - Afghan
This is a photo of my afghan taken this morning before I started working on it. I only added a little bit to it last night. I was just too tired to do much of anything other than sit. *sigh* My crochet has really suffered since I started this temp job. But, I've heard that my last day will be either March 21st or 22nd. *see me jumping up and down with joy???* :) I'll miss the money though. But just think of all the lovely crocheting I'll get done by the time my next job starts on Memorial Day weekend. :)

My "Bag"
This is my "bag". It goes everywhere with me. And no, it's not my purse. "What does this bag hold," you ask? Lots of things. A book that I'm currently reading. My current crochet project. A dry pair of socks. My craft notebook and a few of my favorite patterns. A pair of scissors. A few crochet hooks that I need. And a bottle of Cornhuskers Lotion. My husband says it weighs a ton. You see, he carries it out to the car in the morning for me, and back in the house in the afternoon. What a sweetie. Anyway, my husband and kids gave me this bag for Christmas and it's become the most well-used item that I received. Can you tell that I "love" it? :)
2nd New J Hook
I got a "2nd new" J hook about a week ago. It's the pretty blue one. I bet you're wondering why I call it the "2nd new" J hook. Well, you see....I lost the "1st new" J hook somewhere between Wal-Mart and my house. *sigh* *total bummer* And as much as I have loved using my "old" J hook, it just wasn't cutting it anymore. All the paint is worn off the tip and there are lots of little nicks and scratches in the paint and it kept catching on the yarn. I just hated to break it out and use it. But, you'll be happy to hear that I am not "throwing it out" but just retiring it to the hook holder to give advice and pointers to the other younger hooks resting beside him. :)
Crochet Project - Afghan
I haven't crocheted an afghan for awhile and a couple of evenings ago, I decided to start one. I'm not using a pattern, just an idea in my head. I'm trying to mix two patterns in one....a log cabin and a giant granny square worked from one corner (I can't think of the name for this pattern). I'm using Red Heart yarn in navy, burgundy, gray and white. And a J hook.
